Who hasn't heard of "Cinderella"? Who doesn't know the story of the poor and kind-hearted girl, named Cinderella, who is treated cruelly by her stepmother and stepsisters? Despite the unfair treatment, the young lady in the story remains gentle and wise. Through a good fairy and a magical ball, Cinderella gets a chance to fulfill her dream of attending the royal ball, where she meets the prince and falls in love with him. However, at midnight, she flees and loses her glass slipper, which becomes the clue with which the prince finds her. After many searches, he identifies Cinderella and offers her the shoe to try on, the story ending happily, with their marriage.
"Cinderella – The Voice of the Kingdom" is a show about finding your voice/calling/vocation and following it, regardless of the obstacles that may arise. It's a show about music, about working hard, about being talented, but also about seizing the opportunity to fulfill your dream. Ella, a shy and withdrawn girl from our days, is a sensitive soul who can only express herself through song, can give voice to her true personality, and when she's on stage, she shines. The protagonist wants to participate in the casting for the premiere of "Cinderella" at the high school. The roles of the stepsisters Grizella and Anastasia are played by two actors to achieve a comic, satirical, and caricatured effect of the malicious sisters, not at all feminine and lacking musical talent. Their performance contrasts with Ella's sensitivity and tenderness.
Her dream is to make her voice heard, to be a complete artist: to sing, to dance, to be like the heroines of the childhood stories that her mother read to her when she was little. Ella is not just a simple character who dreams of being a princess, but she wants to develop and express her artistic talent in its fullness, including singing and dancing. The place where Ella feels best is a virgin, atypical, intriguing one: the attic of the house. There, along with her childhood toys (Șoricella, Guz Guz and Coco Brânză, her friends and the birds in the attic), she often rereads her childhood stories, and, this time she will give a show. Whenever she needs to be alone with her dream, she goes to this place which is a portal to the past, to the beginning of beginnings, the place where Ella often gives shows and where she tells her mother every progress, every desire and what she has achieved for her dream. Singing is for her a solace, a motivating force, a way to overcome the obstacles of life with optimism, a promise made to her mother to make her talent known. For Ella, the story of Cinderella is not just about finding love or a prince. It's about finding her voice, about following her passion and about the belief that anything is possible when you have the courage to believe in your dreams.
"Cinderella" is a production of the Ambasadorii Musical Theater, the only theater for children and youth under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture, which this year celebrates 5 years since its establishment.
