Bogdan Mihai Simion & Lăutarii de Mătase National Tour
The tour enjoys a new musicality!!! The lute player-collector of traditional music and one of the last cobza singers in Romania, Simion Bogdan-Mihai, along with his band, Lăutarii de Mătase, embark on a new tour, bringing a renowned trumpet player to the band!
Born in 1990 in Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Bogdan began studying the cobza at just 15 years old, dedicating his life to collecting and interpreting authentic Lăutărească music. Starting in 2006, he traveled through Romania, discovering forgotten songs and learning from the last cobza players of the tradition.
Over time, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Mihai Mărgineanu, Taraf de Haidouks, Les Elephants Bizarres, Chimie, Samurai and many others. He created the soundtrack for the successful documentaries "Flavours of Romania" and "Wild Carpathia", directed by the British journalist Charlie Ottley.
His albums – "Valahia în Demol" (2021) and "Drum pavat cu bolovani" (2023), both produced by Adrian Despot – have recorded record sales and have established him as one of the most important contemporary traditional music artists.
His music combines three major influences: Romanian peasant music, urban Lăutărească music, and classic Romanian pop music (waltzes, tangos, and cabaret songs from the first half of the 20th century).
