The opera “Carmen” on the stage of the House of Culture of the Trade Unions in Ploiești, Monday, March 2, 2026, a grandiose event that brings together on stage over 100 artists, stars of lyrical art, choir, ballet dancers and instrumentalists.
The performance in Ploiești enjoys a high-caliber cast, with some of the most important lyrical artists of the moment in the main roles:
Principal Soloists: Lucia Mihalache (mezzosoprano), Doru Iftene (tenor), Laura Eftimie (Soprano), Cristian Caragea (baritone), Alina Dragnea (mezzosoprano), Răzvan Săraru (tenor), Georgiana Medeleanu (Soprano), Marius Eftimie (baritone).
Alongside them will perform the soloists, choir, orchestra and ballet of the "Oleg Danovski" National Theater under the baton of maestro Tiberiu Oprea.
The opera "Carmen" is a masterpiece by the French composer Georges Bizet, based on the novel of the same name by Prosper Mérimée. It is an opera in four acts, whose action takes place in Seville, Spain, at the beginning of the 19th century, and explores themes such as passionate love, individual freedom and tragic destiny.
The central story follows the tragic destiny of Don José, a naive and honest soldier, who is seduced by Carmen, a beautiful and independent gypsy woman who works at a cigarette factory.
The opera is renowned for its vibrant and expressive music, which includes famous arias such as Habanera ("L'amour est un oiseau rebelle") and Toreador's Aria ("Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre").
