On April 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the National Children's Palace Bucharest (Grand Hall), the classic fairy tale "The Wizard of Oz" by Frank Baum comes to life for the first time in a new stage production by director Aurelian Horațiu Bârcă, produced by the Ambasadorii Musical Theater, and designed as a musical for the whole family.

„For me, The Wizard of Oz is a story about the journey each of us takes to discover that what we are looking for is already within us. It is a show about the courage to return home - not as a place, but as a discovery of one's own identity.” - declares Aurelian Horațiu Bârcă, director.

In this unique staging, "The Wizard of Oz" becomes a story about "coming home," more than a destination, but as a desire for evolution, self-discovery, and understanding the world.

With orchestral arrangements signed by Edward Dabrowski, nominated for the Gopo Awards 2025 for "Best Original Music," the show proposes a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic characters, exploring in depth their emotional dimension.  The Scarecrow becomes the expression of insecurity and the desire for validation, The Tin Man embodies repressed sensitivity, and The Lion reflects the fragility hidden behind the need for courage.

Through choreographic moments constructed by Cezara Blioju as true spaces of scenic confession, each character discovers their own vocation and goes through a path of transformation that resonates equally with the sensitivity of children and the emotional experience of adults.

The aesthetics of the show combines animated projections with traditional theatrical elements. The set design, created by set designer Elena Iorga, is conceived as a malleable space, which transforms fluidly from the monochrome Kansas into an intensely colored world, animated through ensemble choreographies and musical interventions.

"The Wizard of Oz" symbolizes the promise that the answers lie outside of us - a necessary illusion to begin the journey on the path of self-discovery. Throughout the show, the broader message is revealed: "home" is not just a place, but the certainty that what we seek already exists within us. The show thus becomes a story about the courage to follow your own path.
