The impressive CARAGIALE INTEGRAL project initiated by director Dan Tudor continues with the play CONU’ LEONIDA AND MY MOTHER-IN-LAW, FIFINA!
The innovation of the staging is the ingenious blend made from the intertwining of the famous one-act farce “Conu’ Leonida facing the reaction” with “My Mother-in-Law, Fifina”…the least known comedy by nenea Iancu.
Briefly describing the subject of Fifina's ingenious story, we also extend an invitation to our unique show, quoting from the famous Conu’ Leonida.
Alexandru Peruzeanu, newly married, decides to play a trick on his mother-in-law, Fifina, by putting her to sleep with the help of powders, so that he can spend some time with his wife, away from the eyes of her stepmother who never left her unsupervised for a moment. However, his plan will not work, being deceived by the one who sold him the sleeping pills, but he eventually manages to "escape" from the control of the tyrannical mother-in-law through an event that will bring happiness to all the characters and the amusement of the audience.
If you are curious how Peruzeanu manages to escape from Fifina's control and get "rumpled" married to Iulia, come to the theater at the urging of the immortal Conu’ Leonida:
”When she hears about freedom, she jumps out of bed too… because she was a republican! I say: get ready quickly, Mițule, and… let's go to the revuluție. We dress up, sir, nicely, and we quickly take it on foot to the theater.”
The value of the actors in the cast Amalia Ciolan, Tomi Cristin, Afrodita Androne, Gabriel Coveșeanu, Adrian Dima, Grațiela Teohari Duban, Adriana Guluțanu, Oliviu Bughiu, Dan Tudor, but also the unique comedic approach of the two plays by the amazing comedy author IL Caragiale, represents the guarantee of a memorable theater evening.
