In our society, in plays, in television series, in shows, there is more and more talk about modern marriage and the freedom to have partners outside of marriage, while remaining in the relationship of husband/wife, or even about saving the couple from separation, by maintaining fleeting extramarital relationships for both spouses. "All couples who tried it failed miserably." Ultimately, it proves to be not a solution for saving marriage, but a path towards losing the couple.

 "Divorce of the Year" is an adapted play, by the great actor Ion Lucian himself, based on an idea from a famous film from the '70s.

The play treats, in a comic and ironic way with dramatic accents, the husband-wife relationship of people who are heading towards their "third youth" and who find themselves caught in the whirlwind of "hypocrisy of modern conveniences."
