In a present-day high school class, a 36-year-old diary opens a door to one of the most disturbing stories of the 1989 Revolution.
Vlad and Irina, two teenagers living between fear, love, and hope, discover that freedom is not just a word, but a price some pay with their lives. In a world where a kiss can be a crime, and a word spoken too loudly can condemn you, the two dare to dream: of love, of escape, of a future where the light never goes out.
As the city erupts, the music, composed exclusively of famous pre-'89 songs, re-orchestrated in a modern style, becomes the voice of a generation that refuses to be silent any longer.
And Vlad, torn between his love for Irina and the memory of his father killed by the regime, makes the choice that transforms him into a symbol.
"The Cry of Freedom" is the first Romanian musical dedicated to the 1989 Revolution, a dramatic musical about courage, sacrifice, and the love that survives even death.
A story about a past that hurts, but which forces us to ask ourselves:
How much is freedom worth to us today?
