National Tour Bogdan Mihai Simion & the Silk Violinists
The tour enjoys a new musicality !!! The traditional music collector lăutar and one of the last cobza singers in Romania, Simion Bogdan-Mihai, along with his ensemble the Silk Violinists, embark on a new tour, bringing along a renowned trumpeter!
Born in 1990 in Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Bogdan began studying the cobza at just 15, dedicating his life to collecting and interpreting authentic lăutărească music. Since 2006, he has traveled across Romania, discovering forgotten songs and learning from the last cobzari of the tradition.
Over time, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Mihai Mărgineanu, Taraf de Haidouks, Les Elephants Bizarres, Chimie, Samurai, and many others. He created the soundtrack for the successful documentaries "Flavours of Romania" and "Wild Carpathia", directed by British journalist Charlie Ottley.
His albums – „Valahia în Demol" (2021) and „Road Paved with Boulders" (2023), both produced by Adrian Despot – have set sales records and established him as one of the most important contemporary artists of traditional music.
His music combines three major influences: Romanian peasant music, urban lăutărească music, and classical Romanian pop music (waltzes, tangos, and cabaret songs from the first half of the 20th century).
