Acerbic, ironic, biting, the social and political satire written by one of the most well-known Romanian authors of the interwar period proves to be surprisingly relevant today, 100 years after its first staging – THE ENVELOPE by Liviu Rebreanu constructs a universe where romantic intrigues, political squabbles, power struggles, and people with lights and shadows give life to a provincial community. In this small town with a big station, where rivalries are the order of the day, and plots are everywhere, Mayor Arzăreanu knows the principles of the game best, so he resorts to any ruse to win a new term, even if it sometimes means taking advantage of loved ones to achieve his goals.
