A lyrical farce in three acts, with a deeply human and emotional theme, the comedy Siciliana surprises with

much humor in the stratagem that our characters, pieces on the chessboard of fate, orchestrate.

Fifi and Bebe, recent graduates - she in Medicine, he in Agronomy - believe that

the only chance to triumph over the distribution policy, which announces a future in a rural environment,

would be to enter into a marriage of convenience to deceive the system's eyes, but not the hearts

of their true partners: Tiberiu and Muki. However, once the game begins, each move opens doors

to surprising worlds. Check! And mate!

“It is incredible how much humor the comedy SICILIANA, by Aurel Baranga, has after over 50 years since

the tremendous success it had at its Bucharest premiere. Just like back then, people are now also pieces on

the game board of life, of love, regardless of the political system that governs us. Baranga has

this science of subtlety in words, meanings, and humor. To this bubbly comedy, I add

the joy of working with an extraordinary team of actors. I begin with the “parents” Corina Dănilă and

Adrian Păduraru, two actors whom I love and appreciate, who bring to this show

their experience and talent, alongside the young and talented actors I selected from over 250

candidates during the casting (Vlad Vîlciu, Ana Vîlcu / Iulia Bibu, Georgiana Ionescu / Teodora Daiana

Păcurar, Dani Ionescu, Emanuel Varga). The comedy SICILIANA has the scent of nostalgia for the old

Bucharest, which all of us who have been caught up in the capital’s webs yearn for. Imagine how

it would be if, after finishing university, you had to go somewhere to the countryside, to a forgotten

village, far from family, friends, and, above all, far from the charm of Bucharest.”
