The story goes that two little mice, Sică and Rică, lived, in turn, in the violin of Antonio Vivaldi, in the organ of Johann Sebastian Bach, in the library of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in the harpsichord of Ludwig van Beethoven, in the piano of Frédéric Chopin...
Frédéric Chopin's father was French, his mother Polish, both great music lovers. When the child was only a month old, the family moved to Warsaw and opened a boarding house for boys sought after by the best families in the city. Music was an important part of a selected education. In every home, there was at least one piano and someone to play it.
Little Frédéric was always under the piano and not only did he listen with delight, but soon he tried to write musical pages similar to those he heard. The first work he wrote was in 1817, when he was only 7 years old, just one year after he also started taking piano lessons. He followed with other mazurkas, polkas, and waltzes.
To these melodies, Sică, Rică, and Lola joyfully learned to dance.
Frédéric Chopin is considered today the greatest Polish musician and one of the most appreciated composers in the whole world.
