„The opera represents an extensive musical work, based on a libretto written in the '70s by Victor Cârcu. This work can be presented both in the form of a classical opera and in concert form. The birth of «Meșterul Manole» was as difficult as the realization of its constructions. The difficulty consisted, first and foremost, in finding the musical language that would be in accordance with the text. The moment I found this language, of folkloric inspiration, of course, I started the work, which lasted from 2008 until today (2013), with a two-year interruption.” – Josef Kappl
